After I grow up successfully leafy greens like lettuce, basil, parsley and more In the hydroponic method I moved to the next step and started to grow vegetables. I started with Cherry Tomatoes. I purchased organic Cherry Tomatoes seeds , prepared seedlings, move them to small bucket that I used to grow lettuce and basil. The hydroponic method I used is the Kratky method.
After preparing the seedlings I have added them hydroponic container in Kartky method. The Tomatos grew very fast and after one month I moved them to a larger container.
The plants continue to grow very fast so I understood that if I want that the Tomatos will grow high and Straight I must add plants support so I built frame from wood and used ropes in order to provide the Cherry Tomatoes the support they need.
I started to see many flowers and that was a good sign that soon I will have many Cherry Tomatoes to eat but… unusual heat wave hit my area, for 5 days the temp was above 40 degrees Celsius and All the rash destroyed including many Branches. I cut of the branches that were damaged and after few days the plants recovered and started to grow fast again.
Conclusions and Tips For Growing The Best Cherry Tomatoes
After short time I understood that growing vegetables hydroponically it’s a different opera… it’s more complicated than growing leafy greens and the Kratky method is not enough for growing vegetables.
During the process of growing Cherry Tomatoes I learned few things so here are few tips:
Tomatoes roots are large and need a lot of space
The Cherry Tomatoes plants using a lot of water a day especially on very hot days and when the plants is big (my hydroponic Cherry Tomatoes plants were more than 2 meters height!) and they also have large roots. because of this you need large bucket.
Plant support
Big plants need support in order to grow straight and up. It’s a good idea to prepare the plant support infrastructure at day one

Air
The roots need air to keep good health and growth. Add air pump to enrich the water
Shadow
Cherry Tomatoes like sun but if you are in very hot area it’s good to add shadow for the plants
Choose the right seeds
It is important to choose seeds that are suitable for the conditions in your area that are from Cherry Tomatoes type that have good taste.
